Out of skintness, I decided to make my first-ever top for an upcoming night out. By the time the yarn arrived, I only had 2 days to make this top so I was under a lot of pressure as I had no other clothes I wanted to wear.
The yarn I used for this top was Yarns Cotton DK - Lime Green (429) from Lovecrafts
Despite accidentally ordering the wrong yarn I think this top worked out very well, the thinner yarn gave the top more of a mesh vibe.
!You need to wear a bralette under this top (I chose a bikini top) if you plan to wear it out in public!
This pattern is perfect for any kind of club night out or if you are wanting to wear it to a slightly more formal occasion it would be ideal for layering.
Linked below is the free crochet pattern for this green crop top. This is a very easy crochet pattern and is great for beginners.
Green mesh crochet crop top pattern:6mm hook - Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK in Lime green crochet yarn
1)Chain 85 and tie together (ensure it fits over head-if not then add more chains)
2)Press ends together and add 4 stitch markers, 1.5 mm in from ends on each side
3)Chain 5, skip the next chain and triple crochet into the chain after, chain one and skip a chain, repeat this until you reach your first stitch marker
4)Here you will add one increase stitch, then return to repeating the pattern (in bold) and add one increase at every stitch marker
5)When you have completed the first row you will slip stitch into what was the first chain of the row and chain 5 again
6)You will now turn your work and triple crochet into your previous row as you did before, when you hit the stitch markers in this row you will again crochet in another increase.
7)You will repeat this pattern (ensuring you turn our work each row) until when trying on the top it reaches under your armpits for me this was 11 rows.
8)When you complete this 11th row you will slip stitch into the first stitch as before and continue the pattern until you reach your first stitch marker.
9)This time at the increase instead of adding another crochet you will chain stitch to meet the next increase (for me this was 10 stitches) when you meet this increase, slip stitch into it to create your first armhole.
10)Then triple crochet into the last row until you hit your next increase. Repeat the same crochet chain to meet your next increase (this will create your second arm hole) slip stitch into the increase and finish the row by triple crocheting into the previous row. You now have armholes and little tiny sleeves.
11)Chain 5 again and this time instead of crocheting all the way around the last row you will triple crochet up to the first increase then follow the chain stitch, continuing to triple crochet until you get to the next increase now follow the front of the top around then follow the chain stitch until you meet the other side.
12)Triple crochet till you meet the first stitch.
13)Continue this pattern for how many rows you wish and tie off the end. These last few rows of crochet are dependent on how long you want your top to be, I chose to crochet round for 5 more rows.
That is your top complete !!
